Museum of Sex
Location: 5th Ave and 27th st., New York
Architect of Record: Michael Zenreich Architects
Client: Daniel Gluck, Director, Museum of Sex
Commissioned as the exclusive design firm for the Museum of Sex, Cleanroom converted a five storey building on 5th Avenue in New York into a complete 12,000 sq. ft. sex museum with three galleries a bookstore and administrative offices.
The facade of the museum was created as a temporary installation to celebrate the museum opening in the fall of 2002. The facade materials consisted of a nylon power mesh (a durable textile that sports-bras are made of) stretched over undulating aluminum ribs. The dynamic Facade remained a key feature for the museum and transformed 5th Avenue for the first year of the museums existence. |
